As can be seen on the ‘Latest Position’ Andrew and Elsi are finding it very difficult to sail as they would wish to. Indeed, Andrew thought that by 4pm home-time, they will have completed an anticlockwise loop taking them pretty much back to where they were on Monday.
The winds continue to be very strong with huge seas, very light with mixed up motion, or bang on the nose making headway very tricky. As Andrew said this evening, “Its all or nothing at the moment”.
There are very strong Nor Westerlies due tomorrow night and Saturday, surely something favorable will tip up soon?

Hello Andrew
Not much headway this week but remember you have two things in your favour. A skipper with determination and a good boat under him.
Keep picking away and you will get there.Just think about the warm winds when you get futher up the Pacific.
Keep safe
Drew.

Hi Andrew just looked to see how you were doing. There are no easy options down in those latitudes you deserved better luck than this. I and all Cape Horners will wish for a safe rescue, ask your rescuers to put you in touch with Admiral Benuvente he is president of the Chilean Cape Horners and well know to us here in UK. The best outcome now is for you and your consort Elsie to be salved together. Keep safe Chris.

Andrew,
We are so sorry for your very bad luck with the mast. You are a brave guy to be out there anyway, and we just hope that you get back safely.
All the very best,
Alistair, Linda and the girls.

Glad to hear that Andrew has been lifted off Elsi. I hope that the Admiral can help save the boat now. When I was there locally it was Hernan Barria but that was 1992. What a sad end to a magnificent attempt. Chris
